Since 1983, instructors and students have come from all over the U.S. and Canada to join in a martial arts weekend of fun, friendship, and training. Super Summer Seminars became one of the most popular martial arts training experiences in the country, hosting some of the world's most famous martial artists. SSS is one of the longest continuously running camps in the US and has also long been recognized as one of the best camps available for program, organization, and value. Professor Wally Jay called it “one of the best camps in the country."
In 2026 we're expanding your opportunity to participate with us by having 3 training weekends per year, in Rochester, Albany and Herkimer. We're re-branding SSS Super Seminar Series. Our top notch staff instructors offer a wide variety of topics where the participants learn techniques and training methods as varied as Aikido, Ju-Jitsu, Pencak Silat, Escrima, Jeet Kune Do, Wing Chun, TaeKwonDo, Tai Chi, ZDK system, Shotokan, Goju, Muay Thai, Grappling, Sparring, Boxing, etc.. The Super Summer Seminars martial arts camp was established in 1983 by Sensei Michael J. Campos, Director of the Zen-Do Kai Martial Arts Association (zdkusa.com). Having been involved in martial arts since 1959, and having trained long and hard in several different disciplines, Sensei Campos recognized the beneficial effects of martial arts cross-training. He established Super Summer Seminars in 1983, with the goal to create a camp for Martial Artists of any style or organization to meet and train so they could all improve by learning from each other. Under his direction, for 25 years the program has hosted many world-renowned martial artists as “Special Guest” instructors. SSS has contributed heavily to the training, careers and martial arts traditions of thousands over those years.
One of those whose training and martial arts career was enhanced by association with SSS (as a student and instructor) was Sensei Tom Arcuri. In 2008 Sensei Campos tasked him to carry on the Super Summers tradition which he did for the next 18 years. Sensei Tom Arcuri continues to direct the "new" SSS camp into the future along with Master Adam Grogin in Albany, NY and Sensei Matt Dorsey in Rochester, NY
